SOPIROCALLASSO
EQARTIS DRAWING AND PAINTING WORKSHOP

The Museum of Chiclana joins, by hosting this new initiative of Eqartis, the unanimous worldwide tribute that, through multiple exhibitions, recognizes two of the most important names that Spain has given to the History of Art: Sorolla and Picasso. A complete and innovative proposal that, mixing their geniuses and passions with the help of state-of-the-art resources, renews our view of them.

2.- from january 17th to march 3rd

HERBARIVM
WILD PLANTS OF THE PUBLIC PINE FOREST OF LA BARROSA

A few months ago, Javier Palacios de Valle, settled in Chiclana since the nineties, donated to the Museum a work of his where art and science come together, a work that has occupied his time / his life in recent years: beautiful watercolors that collect exhaustive and detailed to the preciousness of the flora present in the Public Pine Forest of La Barrosa. A work that lends itself to looks as diverse as complementary.

3.- from february 23 to april 21

HIDDEN MUSEUM III
MARÍA AGUILAR AND ANTONIO MARÍN

Always art lovers, in any of its expressions, and also professionally dedicated to it for many years, the gallery owners María Aguilar and Antonio Marín have been gathering a wide range of pieces that, today, make up one of the most interesting private collections of Chiclana. This third installment of the project "Hidden Museum" will allow the public to enjoy it. Another occasion to approach the art that we have right here without hardly knowing it.

4.- from february 27th to april 28th

LETTERS OF SCIENCE

Very given in Spain to the exclusive disjunctive, for years the knowledge was divided in letters and sciences, as -late mixed apart- we used to say in the institutes not so long ago. The exhibitions devoted to books on a regular basis since the opening of the Museum have almost always been devoted, in one way or another, to literature. This year we have decided to focus on other books, those in which literature spoke to us about science.

5.- from march 8th to april 28th

STRING LITERATURE

When the newest technological supports for reading appeared, something more than just the reading support changed. And sometimes the support decides the addressee and the very way of reading. This exhibition offers an approach to the so-called -because of the way in which the publications were presented to the public- string literature. A sample of these unbound booklets or sheets -in verse or prose- will bring us closer to those peculiar formats.

6.- from March 12 to April 21

TATTOOING AND REPAIR

Art. And therapy. A knowledge of the craft of tattooing, but also a deep knowledge of the human condition, a condition that is especially revealed in borderline situations, between pain and hope. How to play the rest of the game with the cards we have, how to assume without resignation the reality that we are and continue to give our best fruits.

7.- from may 3 to july 7

A LIFE, A WORK
DISCOVERING THE WORLD OF LORENZO CHERBUY

One is never exhaustive when faced with the task of bringing to the public the wide-ranging work of a unique artist who devoted a lifetime to the creation of a singular work that is the creation of a whole world. The intention of this exhibition is to immerse us in this world - rich in nuances and registers that in no way detract from the unity of the whole. This exhibition is more than deserved and has been long awaited.

8.- from May 7 to July 7

CELEBRATING GARCÍA GUTIÉRREZ
ODA

We have already had the ODA Philatelic Association in other occasions. On this occasion, and when it is one hundred and forty years since the death of the poet and playwright from Chiclana -forty years since that well known and remembered centenary in the eighties-, the members of the association, using philately and collecting in general, will bring us closer to that commemoration and to the figure and work of García Gutiérrez.

9.- from may 8 to june 23

THE ANTIQUITY. A LOOK FROM CHILDHOOD
CEIP JOSÉ DE LA VEGA

We had the opportunity to see first hand the interesting work -transversal- that a group of students from CEIP "José de la Vega" have been developing on various topics. A multidisciplinary work that, when finished, reminds us of a room, for example, in a museum or an interpretation center. It seemed so close to what we do here that we said to ourselves "why not here? And here it is, fresh from the oven, the work resulting from the fresh look of these students on Antiquity.

10.- from june 26 to august 18

CATHEDRALS
OIL PAINTINGS OF DIVINE LIGHT
FRANCISCO PLAZUELO JIMÉNEZ

Behind the work of Francisco Plazuelo, master glazier, there is much more than just craft. Underlying his work is a passion for light, which is the light that enters through the eyes, yes, but also another light. A deep reflection on the light - natural or supernatural - founds this original sample that combines oil and stained glass, light in the end, making the viewer, in the words of Jesus Serrano "participant in a reality, almost ethereal, mysticism and spirituality.

11.- from july 12 to september 1

REFLECTS
AGUSTÍN PÉREZ CASTIÑEIRA

We have already spoken about Cherbuy's own world, and we must insist on it again. A unique work, novel in its conception and in the procedural also, the one that offers in this exhibition of the sculptor Agustín Pérez Castiñeira that combines the originality of the concept with the plastic quality of his singular work. A sample of his world that includes express winks to our town and its surroundings. See, think, enjoy,...

12 .- from 11 july to 15 september

CHICLANA FROM SANTA ANA

Viewpoint from time immemorial, chiclanera watchtower par excellence, from the summit of Santa Ana we have been able - through the practically global vision that allows us - to observe the growth of our city. It is not surprising that, more or less from this place, the view of the first representation of Chiclana that we conserve was taken. A series of photographs will show us the progressive transformation of the city.

13.- from 17th July to 29th September

NOBODY
PORTRAITS FOR POSTERITY

Although it seems at times playful, this exhibition - where seriousness and smiles are not at odds - proposes a lucid reflection on the desire for posterity. Portraits of perfect strangers that cross the centuries alternate with mirrors or ostentatious empty frames. It is also, of course, an opportunity to enjoy a stupendous exhibition of portraits.  Many perspectives are possible.

14.-from august 27th to september 29th

REENCOUNTER
ENGRAVINGS BY JUAN CANDÓN AND PREMIEZLAW TZICKIEWICZ

Engraving is not very present in our exhibition spaces -the ones right here and around- and a few years ago we made the commitment to deal with it. Juan Candón, who was -with good reason- our special guest a few years ago at the exhibition "Masters of Contemporary Engraving", returns now with a larger sample of his work. And he does so in the company of the great Polish master Premiezlaw Tzickiewicz. Both artists will have previously shared space in Poland as well.

15.- from september 24 to november 24

MUSIC THROUGH THE EYES
ART AND ROCK

In contrast to the Hebrew culture, the Greek and Roman culture, to which we are also - and very much - indebted, was a culture with a marked visual character. If even food enters -or not- through the eyes, why not music? Paco López proposes a visual tour -marketing and much more than marketing- through great works of music through the creations of great artists who illustrated the covers of, for example, well-known rock albums.

16.- del 8 de octubre al 8 de diciembre

NATURAE HUMANAE

18.- from November 13

OTHER CHRISTMAS PRINTS
CHRISTMAS IN THE ENGRAVING

To the thread of the Christmas Holidays the Museum of Chiclana will offer an interesting sample of engravings of Christmas thematic made throughout the centuries. Some compositions were conceived ad hoc to be engraved; others, on the other hand, transfer to engraving masterpieces of painting that, through these prints, reached diffusion. A journey through the theme, yes, but also a journey -for engraving lovers- through different techniques or procedures in the world of engraving.

19.- from december 3

THE STORY BEHIND THE STORIES
IN THE DRAMAS OF GARCÍA GUTIÉRREZ

Historicism inspired a multitude of works in the 19th century. Music, painting, literature were nourished by History and, with greater or lesser fidelity, returned to it -characters, events,...- over and over again. Romanticism did not escape from this -quite the contrary-. Among the works of García Gutiérrez, we find a good number of historical dramas. This exhibition is about the real characters that support his dramatic fictions.

20.- from december 13

COMICS: A READING GUIDE

The vast knowledge that Agu Ariza has about this subject, makes him the perfect guide for us to enter, by his hand, into the world of comics. With this exhibition, which we had in mind for some years, the Museum of Chiclana bets to give space in its rooms to artistic expressions that, incomprehensibly, are often left out of the museum spaces. And as "science does not take away passion", we enter into the comic of the hand of this master will allow us greater enjoyment.

21.- from december 18

PEOPLE FROM HERE III
SPORTS

From the hand of Paco Montiel started this series of exhibitions that owes him, apart from the concept, the name of the same. "Gente daquí", which began with a general look at our intimate memory through photography, promised to abound on it later in successive photographic exhibitions. This year it is the turn of the world of sport. And Chiclana has a lot to do in this. We will see it.
