1. 11 March to 26 April
MANDALAS
Healing through art
The Museum, open to hosting – as far as its resources allow – a wide variety of artistic expressions, is pleased – as it did previously with the ‘healing tattoo’ exhibition – to offer the public a series of mandalas in which the visual and the therapeutic come together.
2.- 17 March to 10 May
DRAWING
Although drawing has always featured in our exhibition programmes, it has never played a leading role. Now is the time.
3.- 19 March to 10 May
THE CREATION OF THE WORLD
Although, as human beings, we inhabit the Universe and abide by its laws, we also inhabit the world that we create through language. This exhibition takes us on a journey through the origins and development of the Spanish language via key works that gave it its identity and consolidated it.
4.- 25 March to 17 May
PRIMERS FOR PAINTERS
Originally scheduled for last year, this was one of the exhibitions that the Museum’s works forced off the calendar. We are now reviving it. An interesting display of what primer books for painters were like from the 16th to the 19th centuries. Engraving as a learning tool.
5.-30 April to 14 June
MARILYN MONROE, 100 YEARS
We are reviving an exhibition that took place a few years ago. An exhibition that presented a Marilyn inseparable from Norma Jeane, a Marilyn where the clichés

EL CAMPITO DE HERA
Julio Castilla
We were fortunate enough to discover his work at the Museum through his participation in the exhibition “Homo homini”. An interesting, intelligent and evocative body of work, well conceived and skilfully executed. An honest body of work, which is no small thing. Now we are going to immerse ourselves in his field, in his world.

GARCÍA GUTIÉRREZ. BIBLIOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION
Although the Museum has long dedicated an annual exhibition to García Gutiérrez, this year it is doing so as part of the programme marking the 150th anniversary of Chiclana being granted city status. This exhibition will allow us to get to know this illustrious 19th-century figure from Chiclana through the most comprehensive bibliographic display ever seen
8.- 26 May to 19 July
WALLS FOR ANDREA
José Guerru Gudiña
It is a constant feature of the Museum to highlight the work of artists from our local area. The originality of his approach drew our attention to the work of Guerru Gudiña. It will appeal greatly to a wide and diverse audience.

CHICLANA IN DRAWINGS
Two artists based and deeply rooted in Chiclana have showcased, each from their own perspective and true to their own style, the corners of our town, which is also their own. Two portfolios containing excellent reproductions that we acquired years ago at the Museum as soon as we took over its management. Today, we are presenting them for the public’s enjoyment.

CHICLANA, UNSEEN VIEWS
Over the last few years – albeit at a snail’s pace due to our limited resources – we have been building up an interesting collection of artworks by local artists – or those with close ties to the area – who are as diverse as they are, in some cases, under-represented in public collections

CREATURES
Javier Palacios
Having already explored, through Javier Palacios’s extensive collection, the plants found in the Barrosa Public Pine Forest, today, in watercolours of equal beauty and descriptive precision, we join him in exploring the small fauna that inhabits it.

BERN FOSTER
An artist from here, right here, whose work – very much from over there – is gaining recognition in the United States. Recognition for a visual artist as interesting as he is honest, who still literally gets down to work. An exceptional opportunity to discover him amongst us and enjoy his work.

CÓRDOBA, THE LIGHT OF THOUGHT
900 years of Averroes
As we mark the 900th anniversary of the birth of the Cordoban philosopher, we turn our gaze to Córdoba, a fertile land where thought bore remarkable fruit. Averroes, yes, but also, amongst others, thinkers of the stature of Seneca and Maimonides. This exhibition is about them.

KINTSUGI. FROM FACT TO FACT. DANIELA MARTÍNEZ
We have watched her grow up right before our eyes. And with her, her art. Now we are presented with a body of work which, created with greater awareness, is reaching a maturity that both demonstrates and promises remarkable results.

ART AND MUSIC II: ART AND JAZZ
The second instalment of this initiative by Paco López, where records, through their covers, are viewed, as is the art that manifests itself through the illustrations or designs on them. Another way of looking at music.

A comprehensive exhibition with a strong educational focus which, beginning with two galleries to which two further spaces will be added in stages, offers a journey through Renaissance art and the cultural movement that extended beyond the realm of art.

ST FRANCIS, 800 YEARS
Last year, one of the highlights of our programme was the Catalan artist Montserrat Gudiol. We gained some insight then into her explicitly religious work. This year we will delve more deeply into it to mark the 800th anniversary of the death of St Francis of Assisi, to whom Gudiol dedicated an interesting series of drawings. Other pieces will accompany these.
20. From 16 December
19TH-CENTURY PAINTERS FROM CHICLANA
To mark the 150th anniversary of Chiclana being granted city status, the museum will bring together for the first time, for public viewing, the work of three renowned 19th-century painters from Chiclana – Sebastián Gessa, Juan Antonio González and Eduardo Vassallo – through pieces from the collections of the Museum of Chiclana.

THINGS
A curious exhibition in which the pieces lack, so to speak, any intrinsic value. Their worth lies in what they represent, in the emotional connection we have with them. Pieces behind which lies a story. A story inseparable from the piece, which together we will present to the public.

A MOTHER, A CHILD
To mark the Christmas festivities, the Museum will offer a journey through the iconography of the Virgin and Child, so prevalent in our culture – an image of motherhood beyond the strictly religious – across the centuries, from the Middle Ages to the present day, as the theme has yielded so much and continues to inspire a multitude of creators to this day.
