Presentación de la Pieza del Mes

Last 14 of June was presented the new Piece of the Month. The presentation was led by the the Delegate of Culture, Pepa Vela, and the director of the Museum, Jesús Romero, accompanied by the author of the work, Juan Antonio González.

Juan Antonio González, “Moraldi”*, has followed very different ways in different moments in his long career as plastic artist, but he has mainly ranged between a remote figuration and the abstraction.

Last Tuesday 24th of May, was presented the book “El palpitante animal de la tristeza” written by the poetess Maria Zambrano. This was the last activity belonging to the exhibition “Los siglos de oro y muchos más”.

The event started with an impeccable discourse made by the poet Ricardo Bermejo. The author of the book, Josela Maturana, recited some of her poems, a selection which gathered some poems of the first part, “La caza”, and the second one “La taxidermia”.

This week has taken place the presentation of the book of poems “Cara de nadie”, written by Enrique Rojas, an ancillary activity to the exhibition “Los siglos de oro y muchos más”.

The event was attended by the Delegate of Culture and introduced by the Director of the Museum, Jesús Romero.

A portrait of Frasquita Larrea, painted by the local artist Francisco José Cabillas, has been donated to the Museum. The delegate of Cultura Pepa Vela, the director of the Museum, Jesús Romero and the author of the work, Francisco José Cabillas, attended the media just in the place where, from now on, will be exposed this portrait.

It should be recorded that Frasquita Larrea (Cádiz 1775-Puerto de Santa María 1838), lived the most of her time in Chiclana, where she was influenced by the romantic Germans and the feminist thought of Mary Wollstonecraft.

On 7th April a successful conference about Maria Zambrano was held at the museum. The talk was given by Josela Maturana, and it was the last of the scheduled conferences dedicated to the temporary exhibition “Andalusian Values, with Andalucia in the pocket”.

The event was attended by the Delegate of Development and Employment, Carmen Jimenez and the director of the Museum, Jesús Romero. This conference has also been part of the events celebrating the woman's day.

Last Friday 18th March took place at the Museum a conference entitled “Retratada, retratista, autorretratada” given by Jesús Romero. The main protagonist is the woman and her presence in the history of painting, as Frida Kahlo, Sofonisba Anguissola or Artemisia Gentileschi.

This has been one of the activities of the exhibition “Mujer y Cultura”.

Last Thursday 17th March, the Director of the Orquesta Joven Ciudad de Chiclana, Jesús Rivera, gave an interesting conference about Manuel de Falla (one of ours “Andalusian Values”). Rivera remembered the life and work of this composer from Cadiz, and the audience enjoyed with some fragments of Falla’s works. He also performed some musical pieces with the guitar and the transverse flute.

This is the third programmed conference of the temporary exhibition “Andalusian Values”.
