It is said that Art is one. Even so, it is channeled through many different forms. It is not unusual for authors of boundless creativity to explore more than one form, in order to better understand and express situations and subjects. Thus, we see poets drawing, film-makers making music and theatre performers writing plays.
This is, without a doubt, the case of Federico García Lorca, perhaps the most creative personality of the so-called Generación del 27.
There is a literature of all kind: poetry, theatre plays, essays…but there was more to Lorca than just rhymes and lines. A skilled musician, he compiled and made music for old traditional songs, leaving the recordings his own performances for posterity.
Lorca was a visual artist as well, which reflects in his texts. In this respect, his production was not considered minor, minimal or casual. He had a passion for drawing and painting, finding his own voice in that field, through which he still speaks to us today.
He accomplished a difficult task: to create a unique, easily recognisable style.
Although he only lived for 38 years, his drawings reached a mature style. This display of Lorca’s drawings wants to account for all that.
