Paco Abad's temporary exhibition 'To be or ...not to be', open to the public

If the toys had life in the purest Toy Story style, how would they do in the Pinypon universe, for example, their poster of the Hamlet performance? What typographies would they use? What colors, textures, spaces and shapes, where would the play be performed? The answers can be found in our new temporary exhibition 'To be or... not to be? , inaugurated by the Delegate of Culture, Susana Rivas.

Now, with this third exhibition, Paco Abad,a demanding and restless creator, surprises us again. To be... or not to be?, which opened to the public on Friday, February 24, and will close on April 23, has to do, in its origin, with the book. And with theater. With books containing minimal theater texts. Wink, then, to the book and to Taetro, Cultural Association to which from the Museum of Chiclana - by the hand of this Exhibition - wants to recognize now that they walk of special anniversary, twenty-five years already.

Everything arose in 2015. The Taetro collective asks him, once again, for a poster and book cover for its Rafael Guerrero Minimal Theater Contest. "We decided -this is how Paco and Bea refer to it, reminiscing- that year to give shape to an idea that had been in our heads for a long time: to use a Playmobil Click as Hamlet. It was perfect to represent the concept of "theater" if we characterized it as Hamlet with a skull in his hand and of "minimum" since we are talking about a tiny element... A toy that represents the human world in miniature. And it turned out to work very well. And it was this good performance that led to their participation in subsequent editions that made it possible, working the vein, to explore other universes "of other toys that also promised us similar iconographic possibilities and a lot of fun. It also led us to go through very attentive flea markets, physical and digital, toy stores and a few attics, storage rooms and others to get pieces for all the assemblies that have been made and those that are still to come.

In short, this exhibition is an exercise in iconography, somewhat irreverent, pop and, of course, also nostalgic.
