With this exhibition ends the cycle of activities that have been held this year to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the chapel and the image of the virgin
The Deputy Mayor, Francis Salado; the delegate of Culture, Susana Rivas; the director of the Museum of Chiclana, Jesus Romero, and representatives of the organizing committee of the commemorative events of the 250th anniversary of the Chapel and the image of Santa Ana, including Father David Gutierrez, Jesus Romero Montalban and Manuela Sanchez, have inaugurated the exhibition 'Santa Ana, 250 years', which will be open to the public at the Museum of Chiclana until next November 3.
With this exhibition closes the programming of the set of events prepared by the Commission for the celebration of this anniversary and has had events such as the series of lectures given by Father David Gutierrez and historian Jesus Romero Montalban, the photo exhibition on Santa Ana and devotion, located in the Plaza de Jesus Nazareno, the wreath to the Holy, which had a broad representation of the city; the campaign mass on the esplanade of the chapel itself; the presentation of the poster announcing the festival; the extraordinary lighting of the chapel; the festive day in the neighborhood of Santa Ana and distribution of the 'Bells of Santa Ana', by the Association of Neighbors Ermita de Santa Ana, or the processional procession of the image through the streets of Chiclana, with the traditional petalada in the heart of his neighborhood.
This exhibition is the culmination of all these commemorative events. During the summer the public has been able to enjoy the exhibition 'From Santa Ana', “which invited us to look at our city from this privileged enclave. Now we have the opportunity to contemplate this temporary exhibition in this other privileged place of Chiclana, as is the Museum, where we are invited to reflect on the chapel and the image, “said Francis Salado.
“To do this, visitors can see interesting documents, some of them not previously seen in public, and various works of art from both the Municipal Archives of Chiclana, as private collections. In addition, the delegate thanked the work of the Museum and the commission, Domingo Galan, Jesus Romero Montalban, Alberto Morales, Diego Vidal and the Brotherhood of Humility and Patience, “he said.
For his part, Father David Gutierrez stressed that “one of the actions we wanted to take on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the chapel and the image of Santa Ana was precisely an exhibition, which we inaugurated today.”
“Thank the City Council for their collaboration with the transfer of the Museum and the people who have donated the works that are exhibited here today, because many of them are from private collections,” said the president of the commission of the 250th anniversary of Santa Ana, who stressed that ”the chapel is a unique and singular monument and an icon of Chiclana.”
On the other hand, Jesus Romero explained that “the exhibition revolves around two axes. On the one hand, the building and, secondly, the image of Santa Ana”.“As for the temple, indicate that it is a very peculiar building, with a dome that occupies the entire roof, very common in the pagan society of the Renaissance,” said the director of the Museum, who has indicated that ”this architecture is recovered in the Neoclassical, the time when the chapel was built.” “And in relation to the iconography of St. Anne with the child Virgin, we see a St. Anne more as the grandmother of Jesus than as the mother of Mary,” said Romero, who has indicated that ”the exhibition has paintings, engravings, photographs, sculptures and documents.”
