The Museum of Chiclana hosts the exhibition 'Art. And point'.

Wednesday, May 3, 2023 - 11:45
This sample gathers up to 32 works realized by Pilar Ledesma and Consuelo Ruiz, which take the spectator from the Renaissance to the Contemporaneity.

The Museum of Chiclana hosts the exhibition 'Art and point. Consuelo Ruiz and Pilar Ledesma', which will be open to the public until June 18. This was presented  by the municipal delegate of Culture, Susana Rivas, the director of the Museum, Jesus Romero, and the two artists, Pilar Ledesma and Consuelo Ruiz.

During the visit to the exhibition, the delegate noted that "it is an exhibition composed of works of art made cross stitch by two women who are dedicated to unite the craft of cross stitch with art". In addition, he invited the public to attend this exhibition, "because it is a sign that art is in many places and there are many ways to capture it, and is also a way to make visible the work of these two women.

Pilar Ledesma explained that "only three of the works are mine, but this exhibition is very interesting and for me represents a lot, because they are many hours of work that then give you a lot of satisfaction. Besides, seeing them on display here is not the same as seeing them in your living room. She also specified that the replica of the Sistine Chapel has almost 350,000 cross stitches and it took her more than three years to finish it.

Consuelo Ruiz pointed out that "here is almost everything I have done. I started in 1999 with some horse paintings and in 2000 I started painting and making these works. They are works that require a lot of work".

In this exhibition, the large and wonderful collection of works by Consuelo Ruiz joins the pieces donated by Pilar Ledesma for this occasion, the first to publicly contemplate her work. From the confluence of one and the other, this History of Art is born, through names such as Botticelli, Michelangelo, Raphael, Murillo, Vermeer, Fragonard, Goya, Monet, Renoir, Klimt, Mucha, Sorolla, Romero de Torres or Dalí and through the humble work of embroidery, leading the viewer from the Renaissance to the Contemporary.
The humble path of craftsmanship connects us with the world of painting through these 32 works made by two women especially sensitive to art in general.
